Dear Sir,

The Netherlands Palestine Committee has worked hard since its creation in 1969 for the implementation of the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their places of origin in accordance with UNO resolution 194. We can not accept what the refugees do not accept and, therefore it is most regrettable what you have said about this,  if the following direct and indirect quotation from Ha'aretz (11.9.08) is correct.

"We understand that if all five million refugees return to their homes, the State of Israel will be destroyed". Nonetheless, he added, "Israel must discuss both its responsibility for the refugee problem and a practical right of return."

"Palestinians who do not return to Israel will be able to return to Palestine," he continued. He also said a solution to the refugee problem would be based on the Arab peace initiative of 2002, which stated that the solution must be based on United Nations Resolution 194, but acceptable to Israel.

The State of Israel should become a democratic state of all its citizens. Zionism as the structure of the state is the problem. The return of the refugees to their places of origin is possible according to the sound and reasonable proposals of Salman Abu Sitta. Justice is the only way to peace.
