I read in the newspapers that Mrs Catherine Ashton, the head of European diplomacy, says that she is "deeply concerned" about the decision to "legalize" colonies on the occupied West Bank and that she reminded that "the settlements are illegal under international law". The logical question to ask than is: why doesn't the EU sanction Israel instead of rewarding it by a status of privileged partner?
"Deep concern" alone doesn't help the victims from whom more and more land is continuously taken since 1948, the Palestinians. On the contrary: if that's the only reaction Israel has to fear from Europe, it's merely a hint that it can continue to break international law as far as Europe is concerned.
